Welcome to The Good Shed. If it has a BPM north of 100 then you’ll find it here during Brownstock. Over the years it has provided the setting to some epic showcases from Grandmaster Flash, Nero, Mark Ronson, Duke Dumont, Zane Lowe and Benga to name but a few.

The Good Shed Line up for 2014

Curated by our very own DJ Mat Format, here is our 2014 offering for the shed that’s piled high with goodness. Mat Format gives us his 5 hot picks for the weekend:

Sigma

Sigma playing at Glastonbury 2014

“I have always been a Junglist. In fact, when I first learnt to DJ I had a pair of belt driven Sound Lab turntables and copy of Peace Love and Unity that I mixed relentlessly into His Imperial Majesty by the legendary Congo Natty.

I have never strayed too far from the genre that kicked it all off for me and have loved the opportunity to dedicate a night of the Good Shed programming to it.

Alongside Brownstock Vets Pendulum and Shy FX, Sigma were an obvious choice. Their massive number one hit ‘Nobody To Love’ has dominated the festival circuit this summer and having played alongside them a number of times they won’t fail to ignite the Good Shed on Sunday night.”

P Money

P Money

“South London-bred MC P Money has been championing the new generation of UK grime since he burst onto the scene with the Fatal Assassins crew in the late 2000s.

Now he’s positioned as one of the genre’s top representatives—an international ambassador of the genre bringing his blend of old and new styles to audiences around the globe as well as to his core audience back home.

Following on from a heated battle on Lord of The Mics where he clashed with and ultimately defeated Big H the grime spotlight has never been more firmly on P Money. With Dizzee headlining the main stage on Friday night, get your daily dose of Grime and head over to the Good Shed straight after his set to catch P Money closing our second stage. Who knows? Dizzee might even jump up with him for round 2…”

DJ EZ

DJ EZ

“I pondered over what to write here for some time, I mean, where do I start? There are few words that can do EZ’s legacy much justice at all but, after almost twenty years, it is safe to say his music is still doing all the talking.I am pretty sure most of us have owned a Pure Garage album at one point or another, the volumes were seemingly endless, all seamlessly mixed together by the man himself, not to mention a radio career with Kiss that’s lasted longer than Chris Moyles! As a DJ he is considered one of the best of his generation by fellow DJs and contemporaries and remains as relevant as ever. He is also one of the slickest mixers I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Looking over the rest of the billing for Saturday night in the Good Shed and I struggled to place him, with acts such as Claude Von Stroke and Route 94 playing before him, it seemed that the last set of the night was the only safe option. I mean, once the stage has been destroyed by EZ, it’ll give us the rest of the early hours to rebuild it ready for Sunday… ”

Mak & Pasteman

Mak and Pasteman

“Been big fans of these two likely lads for some time now. Their outrageous bootlegs feature in almost every set I play and their appreciation of old and new bass music dominates both their production and their prowess when they play.

Brought up on a diet of electronica, hip hop, breaks, garage, house and techno, Their style is best described as a cocktail of these influences with their multi genre style fusing new and old sounds with modern production techniques and heavy sub bass.

The more die hard fans amongst you will need no introduction but for those of you who do, get yourself along to the Good Shed early evening on Saturday, get yourself a front row seat and prepare to bear witness to Brownstock history in the making. Mak & Pasteman will be kicking off your evening in style with Doorly, Maribou State, Route 94, Claude Von Stroke and DJ EZ taking you through till 2am

Doorly

DOORLY

Theres a reason why Doorly comes back each and every year to Brownstock. Apart from anything else, he’s a thoroughly nice chap and lots of fun to have around, but mainly because there are few DJ’s that surpass his sheer wizardry behind the decks.

He also has incredible vision for an ever changing scene that more often than not leaves lesser acts floundering by the way side. Remember Angelos Epithemou? Yep, well that nugget of pure Brownstock gold came from Doorly. Grandmaster Flash? Co producing a track with Doorly for Southern Fried records when he suggested he came and visited us on the farm. Fact is, Doorly is the ultimate DJ’s DJ. King of the White Isle, he is loved by literally EVERYONE. Now residing in LA he has played with everyone from Usher and Nicki Minaj to more recently, the god father of disco Giorgio Moroder at his own curated night in Ibiza.

He’s no shirker in the studio either, his remix of Bonkers by our other headliner Dizzee Rascal was an online sensation, starting off as a bootleg and later being officially commissioned by Dizzee himself. Fast forward to 2014 and he is juggling studio time with the likes of Idris Elba and Green Velvet as well as having a string of incredible releases with labels such as Dirtybird and Toolroom Records.

Doorly is one of the most exciting DJs and producers around at the moment, his star is very much in the ascendency and it’s not hanging around. Don’t miss his set as he warms up for Claude Von Stroke on Saturday night.”
